ALL-STARS:  Are you ready to make the commitment?

The All-Star Tournaments for Little League are fast approaching.  Although the tournament doesn't start until July 1st, the selection process is already underway.

Your child may be considered and selected to represent Chico Eastside this year.  This is a wonderful experience and the Eastside Board would like you to know the commitment that is required from the players and parents.

The All-Star tournament is very competitive and the goal of the team is to win.  Unlike the regular season, when the focus is on instruction and development, managers will set the batting line-up and place players in field positions they feel will give them the competitive advantage.  The minimum requirement for playing time is different than the regular season with players required to play only 3 defensive outs and bat once per game.

Eastside will be represented by 2 teams for players 9-10 years old, 1 team of 10-11 year-olds, 1 team of 11-12 year olds and 1 team of 13-14 year olds.  Player nominations for these teams will be made and voted upon by the Managers in each division.

All-Star team announcements will be made at closing ceremonies on June 15 from 5-7pm.  Little League rules prohibit announcing or practicing All-Star selectees before June 15.

Expectations of an All-Star Player:

> Practice held 4+ days per week, at the Coach's discretion, mid June thru July.  Vacations should be avoided during this time.

> Each All-Star tournament is double elimination.  Games are played during the week, weekend - including Sundays - and could be scheduled on back-to-back days.

> District games will be played in the Chico area but, if your team advances to Sections, Division or State level, travel outside the area is required and could continue well into July or August.  The 11-12 year old division could go all the way to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.

> Players will come to practices and games with a positive attitude and demonstrate exceptional sportsmanship at all times.

Expenses:

>Parents are responsible for all travel related expenses.

>An All-Star player fee of $30 is required to defray jersey and hat costs.  Parents are also required to purchase a belt, pants and socks in Eastside colors.

Please notify your regular season Manager ASAP if:

> Your family is unable to make the above commitment for the full duration of the tournament.  The nomination and selection process is happening NOW - please let your Manager know right away if you do not want your child to be considered for All-Stars.
